The Corpus Callosum Journal

The Corpus Callosum, published each spring, is a compendium of fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, drama, and visual art, arranged to mimic (more or less, and often less) the intricate architecture of the human brain. Also, sometimes there is a cognition- and/or perception-related theme.

We are baffled by our existence, by our capacity to be baffled.

We invite both new and experienced writers and artists to send us their original work during our submission period. The Corpus Callosum strives to be inclusive: we endeavor to capture the vast spectrum of voices, ideas, whimsies, and dreamscapes--including those of feminist, nonwhite, immigrant, and LGBTQ+ writers and artists and people with disabilities--beamed outward from the headspaces of our beautifully diverse human family. What absurdities we all are, what wonderful, terrible absurdities, so full of love and hate, generosity and selfishness, our hapless, doomed lot of embodied bone, blood, and brain.

Sometimes, we watch the clouds.

Help us celebrate our humanity. Help us demonstrate our humility. Our brains are magnificent. Our brains are not special.
